This is it—the beginning of the end. The final cover reveal for the final chapters of The Glass Scientists. Without further ado . . .
Now, this isn’t really the end. Not right now, at least. Please note the later release date on this volume: December 2nd, 2025. And while this book will contain the absolute for-real end of the comic, it will actually launch several months before the final webcomic page posts.
(How will that work? Does that work? I don’t know! I’m figuring it out! Point is: We’ve still got plenty of Glass Scientists left to go!)
Oh, and we’ve also got . . .
a.k.a. the hardest part of the whole process for me! Not to be dramatic. I think I made it way more complicated in my head than it had to be. But I will say that this interlocking cover went way more seamlessly thanks to the flames I incorporated into the Volume II cover. There really are a lot of flames on the Volume II cover, considering the general lack of flames in that part of the comic.
To be honest, I never felt fully satisfied with the Volume II cover, in large part because of the color palette—It’s blue and orange and yellow and green without any one color standing out, which creates a certain lack of coherence in the final product.
I wanted to make sure I didn’t make the same mistakes with Volume III, so I went for a super pared-down, orange-dominated palette. Having a simple, clear direction from the start made everything click into place right from the get go, and as a result, this was by far the smoothest cover design process I’ve had to date (which I needed, because the end of last year was an absolute race to the finish line).
Once again, this cover reveal marks the start of the pre-order campaign! Just like with the first two volumes, you can support me and receive exclusive gifts by pre-ordering The Glass Scientists: Volume III today!
Note: The pre-order gift form for US-based readers won’t be up by the time this posts—please keep track of your receipts, and I will let you know when that form is open! However, international readers will be able to fill out their pre-order gift forms at the link above!
Let me know what you think, and if you’d be interested in a more in-depth breakdown of the design process for this cover! (And maybe a post-mortem on the Vol II cover, I have a lot of thoughts about that one.)
I have myself a headache from screeching over how FREAKING AWESOME the interlinking covers are!! (Forcing my mother to get me all three volumes and bleeding heart providing UK shipping isn't insane)
we are so cooked
