Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Meet DRACULA (pt.1)
Plus: Where to get personalized books, One week countdown!
Can you believe that we’re less than one week away from the launch of The Glass Scientists: Volume II? I can’t! Seriously, I’ve been so busy between finishing up my assistant directing day job (+a two-hour commute to West Hollywood) and working on Volume III that this pub date has really snuck up on me!
Remember to pre-order AND fill out your pre-order reward form HERE!
I’ve got some important pre-order business in this issue regarding personalized books below, so please read to the end, but first, a preview of the Volume II bonus story, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Meet Dracula!!
The more he listened to that voice, the more he wanted to keep on listening. It wafted into him like a soft, pink fog, pushing away all his troubled thoughts until they faded away, leaving behind a blank, peaceful nothingness. He felt his shoulders relax and his expression grow soft as he allowed the silky thrum of that voice to wash over him, and when it gently told him to step forward, he could think of nothing he would like to do more than obey . . .
He had been prepared to find Jekyll cowering in an attic somewhere, or passed out in some dingy underground lair. What he hadn’t been prepared to find was Jekyll looking exactly the way he’d looked when he’d last saw him, that same irresistible smile plastered across his face. Only now he was standing in the doorway of Dracula Hall, with Dracula himself right behind him.
“Welcome!” he said, his voice light and inviting as it ever was. “We’ve been waiting for you. Please, come inside.”
“Stop! Stop!” Jekyll whimpered. “I don’t want to go! I want to stay with the nice ladies!”
Meanwhile, the nice ladies in question had turned their attention to Hyde.
“Be quiet! Stop acting so selfish.”
“Why can’t you be more like Henry?”
“Don’t you see you’re making everyone uncomfortable?”
“Oh, shut up–” Hyde started to say, then froze. There was something wrong with his voice. It sounded too small, too weak. He looked down and saw that he, too, had become a child version of himself. The effect was surreal. He had never been a child, at least not in this current form, in this separate body. That hadn’t come into existence until this past year. And yet here he was, a tiny, blonde imp surrounded by scowling adults.
Stay tuned for another preview drop next Monday!
Okay, onto a bit of business: I’ve gotten a number of questions from readers asking about personalized dedications in their pre-orders, so I wanted to clarify an important detail about the Volume II pre-order campaign! Unlike the campaign for Volume I, I will not be able to offer personalized dedications for the (physical) pre-order campaign bookplates. This is because my publisher has kindly offered to handle reward distribution, and it would be tricky for them to keep track of individual bookplates across the whole process.
However, there is a way you can get a personalized dedication! Two ways, actually:
If you live in the US, you can order a signed book from Chevalier’s Books. Since they’re local, it’s easy for me to offer personalized dedications, messages, or small doodles along with my signature:
And if you live outside the US, you don’t have to worry because I’ll be distributing your digital pre-order rewards myself! You can request any dedication, short message, or doodle you want—Just remember to fill out your international pre-order reward form by September 23rd!
Is there a way to check to make sure our pre order rewards form were sent/received correctly? I don't know if I was supposed to get a confirmation email or not
Will you, by chance, be doing any in-person signings?
